What is Stand in Circus?
Stand ins are the images on board with a hole cutout that people stick their head in to make them look like something they aren’t (like an astronaut). For Stand in Circus I made a large board with a hole cut-out and participants get to decide how they or others will look by modifying some elements. It’s like a low tech photoshop. I made two circus performer paper photo cutouts with articulated legs and arms. I also cut out a bunch of objects that performers could be juggling or balancing on. When participants are finished modifying the board, they can then put their head in and take a photo.
